Hello, my name is Polina Roytman. I'm a Costume Designer and Fashion Stylist and today, we are at Mary Meyer Clothing Boutique in Brooklyn, New York and the question I'm going to answer is, "What kind of fabric works best for a pencil skirt?" It's such a great question. Pencil skirts are really in now, they hug the figure, they show it off, they're really beautiful and elegant-looking. Some are shorter, some are longer, but they're all over the place. Some of the fabrics that work best is anything that has stretch in it will fit you better and be a lot more comfortable than anything that doesn't. And it's kind of nowadays, you'll find ones that have at least a little bit of stretch in it just because it's just so much easier to wear. My model is wearing a white one that's actually a cotton-Lycra blend, but then she's also holding one that is a gabardine and Lycra blend. So, again, there's different options, some are even knit; but, I tend to like ones that are a little bit thicker such as cotton and gabardine because they just give you a better shape and they cinch everything in more. But again, it's a personal preference. Those knit ones are a lot more comfortable for a lot of people, so, again, that's a personal preference. But, most of them especially today have stretch in them, at least a little bit. My name is Polina Roytman and I just answered the question, "What fabrics are best for pencil skirts?" You can find me online at Polina Roytman. Thank you for watching.
